Hi Folks,

I have been trying to put together a list of casualties for all regiments who served during the Palestine campaign prior to WW2. To date I have been able to identify the following men from the Manchester Regiment:

18/08/1938 RSM 3513233 J.CURRIE
10/03/1938 PTE 3525446 M.FURY
16/08/1938 2/LIEUT R.F.GRIFFITHS
18/08/1938 PTE 3525503 W.HARPER
19/08/1938 L/CPL 3527487 C.HEELAN
08/02/1938 PTE 3525590 J.T.PENNY

Have I forgot anyone? Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Conor

Hi Connor
Arthur Lane's book "One God Too Many Devils" covers the 1st Bn during that period, I can remember that one man went missing after a football match and was found dead alongside a railway line the next day, I just cannot remember his name at the moment.  I know a relative posted something on the Forum about him and I replied with the details from the book.  I will try to find it later, in the mean time I have asked Arthur Lane if he can add anything for you.

Killed in action were:
2nd Lieutenant R F H Griffiths, RSM j Currie, L/Cpl C Heelan and Private W Harper.

Private Penny was accidentally killed and I believe that Private Fury also died as a result of an accident - nothing to do with any action.

Wounded in action were 2 officers and 9 other ranks.
