unlucky in love. 16th manchesters

susannah montgomery and thomas mcfadden married at new bridge st register office,on 22-2-1911,their daughter sarah,elizabeth[lizzie] had been born previously on 10th may 1910,thomas worked in manchester as a warehouseman and they lived at 10 lower byron st,deansgate,tragically thomas was accidentally killed on 8th july 1911.
susannah later met james redfern who also worked as a warehouseman at geo+r dewhursts in manchester,they married at st.johns church,deansgate,on 9th august 1913,their daughter edna was born two days later,on 11th august.
james accepted lizzie as his own child and they went to live at 95 duke st,hulme
on 3rd sept 1914,james enlisted in 16th manchesters,he went to france with his battalion on 8-11-15 and a month later,his son james was born on 8-12-15

20-6-16 bray
CSM reilly of the royal scots fusiliers,was ordered to bring up a squad of men to the 30th div grenade depot at bray,james was amongst this squad,they were to examine and check the townsend grenades in one of the sheds,during this work,james turned to L/cpl tyrrell and showed him a faulty grenade,tyrrell turned away to do something and all of a sudden there was an explosion,james along with cpl william eade of the 2nd bedfords were mortally wounded and died within minutes.
