« on: October 22, 2009, 10:41:36 PM »
10th and 11th july 1915 gallipoli

me[sgt grantham] and Lt sutton went out on both nights,we each tied a piece of string to our wrists and the other end to our parapet,we pulled it along with us till we reached the turkish trenches that way we were able to measure the distance between our trenches and theirs.
the turks spotted us but we ran about ten yards and hid amongst the turkish dead, they fired away but luckily they didnt hit us.
we were later congratulated by gen prendergast+gen douglas
