« on: October 18, 2011, 03:43:50 PM »
mrs mary clarke, the mother of pte 9132 thomas clarke made extensive enquiries regarding her son,she stated that her sons friend pte 9199 frank carter, who was home on leave, came to see her and told her that thomas was shot in the throat on 14th november 1914 and died instantly, and he was present when he was buried at le cateau
on 7th august 1916,the records office at preston asked that a statement regarding the matter should be taken from pte carter
pte 9132 thomas clarke was killed in action on 26th aug 1914 and pte 9199 frank carter was assumed killed on 13th oct 1914
