I am trying to find out if my father was in the manchester regiment? My fathers name is James Patrick Ryan and i believe he fought in the far east and was in the army i think from around 1948-1955.I have a picture of him and some friends on patrol and also a picture of him in a place called stonecutters island which i believe is in hong kong and just thought someone may recognise the name or be able to point me in the right direction.I also think he may have fought in Korea as well.If anyone could help it would be appreciated as i know the information is really sketchy

Hi Ryan and welcome to our Forum !!

It might be difficult to link your father to a Regiment at the period you are talking about, but I can confirm that Stonecutters Is. is off the coast of Hong Kong!

Can you post his picture please?
