QSA Medal Roll look up required please
« on: August 27, 2009, 02:35:35 PM »
Hi everyone

I've posted on here previously on this subject but I would like to try a new line of enquiry. My Great Uncle was 2969 Pte. Fred Bunn of 1/Manchesters. He died on June 29 1900 and is buried in Pietermaritzburg. Unfortunately he is not on the QSA medal roll. I believe he enlisted around 1890 and so I think he would have been with the initial deployment of the Battalion to South Africa. Could anyone with access to medal roll be able to tell me if there was a pattern with regards to the clasps awarded to other men of the Battalion involved since the initial deployment e.g do 80% of the men all have the same clasps?

An unusual line of enquiry I know but it may prove instructive.

Thanks

Jonathan

Jonathon,

There are many variations but the "pattern" would be

Elandslaagte
Def. of Ladysmith
Belfast

He of course died before the qualifying date for the Belfast clasp.
