Hello everyone

I registered a few weeks ago but haven't actually posted anything yet and thought I should say hello before starting to ask questions.

I am researching my family history many of whom came from the Manchester area although I now live in the Midalnds. I am particularly interested in my grandfather, Wilfrid Dale, who was in 6th Battallion the Manchester Regiment (2489) until being transferred to the Royal Engineers (A3629 then 444567) I think in 1916. He was wounded in the Gallipoli landings, in fact, according to my mother, he didn't actually reach land as he was fished out of the sea barely alive with a bullet in his head during the landings. What happened to him after this is a bit of a mystery, I have a few questions I want to ask in an effort to fill in some of the blanks but I'll do that in the appropriate topic area.
