lance corporal 351019 james nield has been killed,he along with pte e.douglas,were out scouting in front of the company,when they were spotted by the enemy,L/cpl nield was shot through the heart and died almost instantely,pte douglas retreived his photos and lay there till it was safe to return to our lines

L/cpl nield lived with his wife,at 12 hodgson st,ashton

while at southport,he act as colonel heywoods orderly
