Hi Jane

Thanks so much - fascinating to see all the Medal Cards that detail the various regiments the 9 were in before becoming Manchesters & that 2 were promoted to Cpl. These MC's also seem to indicate that all 9 survived the war but 2 were discharged early in 1919 so perhaps they were wounded or suffering ill health & invallided out like my grandfather?

3 of the 9 (2 were Royal Fusiliers like my grandfather) were awarded a 1915 Star Medal for service in France in 1915.  Presumably they must have been sent home & then volunteered to fight again in 1916?  What heroism!

Stageman's Medal Card mentions  'Silver Badge List H/19/1' - do you or does anyone else know what this is please?

No need to send me Ancestry copies of Pension for Castle - I can access for myself if needs be.  You are 'Star'  ;) as I can now persue my own research more dilligently & will add any interesting discoveries as they may unfold.

Clive  :)
