i have just found out that my grandfarthers brother was a member of the manchester regiment in ww2. however he was reported missing in action prior to 1943. we do not know where he was serving or if his body was ever recovered. is there any body from the regiment at that time that could shed any light on where the regiment was at this time of the war or if they knew of george.

14/15th February 1942 were the last two days of the battle for Singapore. Both B and D Companies were fully engaged with the Japanese enemy who were infiltrating through the British positions.  Lieutenant George Sully carried out a spirited bayonet counter attack, driving out an enemy platoon.  He was later awarded the Military Cross for his actions that day.  It is probable that Joseph Maskery was a member of one of these two companies.
