GALT   P   5693   12TH BN  KIA 27th May 1918

Peter Galt was born in Bury in 1893. He married Florence Barrington in Stockport in 1910. He was an engraver at the Calico Printers Asssocation (CPA) at Buckton Vale, Carrbrook, Stalybridge, Cheshire, and during that time he lived at "The Barlow School", Carrbrook (now a house near Stamford Golf Club, Huddersfield Road, Carrbrook). He enlisted in Ashton-under-Lyne. First Served in Theatre: 16th July 195, in France. He was awarded the 1915 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He was commemorated by the CPA at its Head Office, St James' Buildings, Oxford Street, Manchester (this war memorial is now missing). He was also commemorated of the CPA Roll of Honour, (printed) having served and having worked at the Buckton Vale Print Works. He was also commorated on the Carrbrook Village War Memorial, St James' School, Carrbrook (this war memorial is now missing).
