Belgian Croix de Guerre
« on: June 03, 2009, 02:42:50 PM »
Hi guys, another new boy to the forum, I was in the R.E.`s myself but don`t hold that against me.
My enquiry is concerning my late Grandfather ' 41250 Cpl John William Gibson' who was decorated with the Belgian Croix de Guerre, gazetted in July 1918. Very curious for details of the circumstances in which he won the award, is it possible that the info would be contained within the war diaries for that period. I am sorry but I don`t know which battalion he was with but I`m led to believe he may have joined up in St Helens.
Many thanks
