24th Battalion
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:28:09 PM »
The Oldham Liaison of Ex-Service Associations has just paid for the restoration of the King's Colour of the old 24th Battalion Manchester Regiment - the Oldham Pals. The needlework was carried out by a local Oldham seamstress.  The Colour is now being framed and glazed and will be  rehung in Oldham Parish Church in the near future.

Never carried in battle it had originally been in the safe keeping of Oldham Corporation for many years after the end of WWI but was laid up in the Parish Church in June 1936 where it has remained ever since.

Very well done to the Oldham Liaison.

Hi Rob,

Splendid, its great to know that these things are still being revered and preserved.

I too would like to request a copy of any photographs of the colours.

Many thanks

Trevor

Hi Rob,

I was wondering if you managed to get any photos of the 24th's colours.

If they were posted, and I missed them, sorry.

Many Thanks

Trevor
