Hi Wendi,
Firstly my apology - I got my web belt mixed up with my BD respectively '37 and '42. That's what comes from trying to answer the phone at the same time that I am on the PC.
My main query was based on the fact that - this is a Studio Photograph which, in principle was to show you at you best, but in my opinion it fails on that score because of the missing belt. Hence my 'Why'. Let's face it the BD of that issue was not the ideal item to get creases in the trousers because of the location of the map-pocket ( left leg), it was designed for combat not 'parade ground smartness'- that pocket jutted almost two inches across the crease area and because of the three thicknesses of serge with the flap it was impossible to press down and retain the crease. The later types reduced the size of that pocket and moved it further back whch was much better. However that still doesn't resolve my query and the chances are that we will never get an answer.
By the way there is another possibility for the cap badge - The Cheshire Regiment.
I am not being facetious by the way - it was something which to me 'jarred' and was very obvious.
Cheers ,
George.
