hi ian

there's no mention of your man i'm afraid

on the night of the 30/6 the battalion moved up to black horse shelters and crucifix corner, in the morning they moved up to Authuille wood and attacked Leipzig salient, they held this until the 3rd, when they were withdrawn to billets at Senlis

on the 5th they moved to Forceville (" a poverty stricken and dirty village)

on the 7th they moved to Bouzincourt in readiness for an attack at Ovillers la Boissellle

on the 8th they were moved up into the village of Orvillers part of which had been taken in an earlier attack, they relieved the 36th brigade ("who seemed to be in a great hurry to get out")

on the 9th, the battalion attacked the germans who were holding the rest of the village, they took their first objective at 4pm but were held up by entrenched machine guns hidden in bomb craters, they were relieved late on the 9th

on the 10th despite the CO reporting his men were exhausted, they attacked again, "under hostile sniping and machine gun  fire, the whole area was an unimaginable maze of craters, dead and debris" they attacked all day with limited success, being held 100 yards from their objective, a further attack later in the day had more success and they reached their objective

on the 11th the brigadier announced no further attacks would be taken due to the exhaustion of the troops and the 2nd was withdrawn to Bouzincourt
