The news cutting refers to the 5th Manchesters who in 1944 spent a short time at Balmoral acting as the Royal bodyguard. At the time they were commanded by Lieut Colonel de Wilton Wills of the tobacco company.  This was the first occasion that Queen Elizabeth had met the Regiment of which,after the war, she was to become Colonel in Chief.
