12033 Sergeant Stanley Carter,C Company, 9 Platoon, 19th Battalion.The Son of James and Harriet of Rusholme and the Husband of Violette Kate Carter of 77, Richmond Grove, Chorlton-on-Medlock.Died of wounds on the 25th February 1916 aged 31. Buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen.

15431 Private Richard Green. 24th Battalion.Husband of Elizabeth and Father of 3 Children of 62, Heyside, Royton, Oldham. Killed in action on the 26th February 1916 aged 32. Buried in Point 110 New Cemetery, Fricourt.

11081 Private Herbert Walter Bridge. E Company, 17 Platoon, 18th Battalion. The Son of Frederick and Catherine Bridge of 14, Plymouth Grove, Longsight. A Salesman in his Fathers fruit and vegetable Business. A Salford harrier and a member of Manchester Athletics club. Killed in action on the 27th February 1916 at Knowles point aged 20. Buried in Suzanne Communal Extension Cemetery.

40331 Private George Harry Stubbs. 20th Battalion.The Son of George and the late Jane Stubbs of 23, Hill Street, Blackpool. Formerly served as 5691 Lancashire Fusiliers.
Killed in action on the 1st March 1917 aged 26.Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

Remembered today :

3rd March 1916

At 2.30 am on the Morning of the 3rd March 1916, thirteen men of D Company, 16th Battalion, were sheltering in a dugout in North Street, a trench in the Suzanne/Maricourt defences. After hours of incessant rain, the roof of the dugout collapsed, trapping the men inside. The Men were rescued by their comrades-three of them dying from their injuries.

6219 Corporal William Isherwood Brown. The Son of James and Elizabeth Brown of 45, George Street, Altrincham, aged 24.

6563 Lance Corporal Edward Baldwin Thomas of 21, Carroll Street, Fallowfield aged 24

6977 Private Jonathan Cowell. The Son of William and Margaret Cowell of 3, Claran Street, Manchester aged 21.

The three Men were buried by Chaplain I. M Clarke in adjoining plots, in Suzanne Communal Extension Cemetery.
