Hi,

I wonder if anybody could help me with a bit of a puzzle?
My Husband has always understood that his Great Grandfather (Benn Dawson), and his son - Harry Dawson joined the RAMC and served throughout the whole war. He was told that Harry was gassed twice.
While undertaking family tree research, i found a note book owned by Benn in the war in which he had written the following:

Private Harry Dawson - Reg No: 43100
No1 Platoon, 16th Manchesters, RAMC

We were surprized to see the reference to the Manchesters and wondered if he was attached to them but still in the RAMC?
I posted a query on Rootschat about Benn and Harry and someone kindly directed me to this site so I wondered if anyone could give me any more information about Harry and clarify whether he was in the Manchesters, RAMC or both?!
Any information would be greatfully received as i don't have access to Ancestry either.

Thank you, kind regards, Erica.
