Hi Mack

Sorry to labour this, but it is important.  I have Herbert's birth certificate from 8 July 1922.  His mother is indeed Alice Newbury (nee Godbert) but his father is not named.  So, what was it that led you to list him amongst Albert's children in your post above?  I suspect you have seen the entry for Herbert Newbury, noticed the mother's name and put 2 and 2 together.  That's not to say you are wrong, but it doesn't mean it's correct either ;)

its as you say rob,i saw his entry,and assumed he was alice+alberts son.

You could try locating a baptism for Herbert and get his marriage certificate, one or the other might name the father. :)

Good idea, thank you.  He was married twice and I'm trying to get both certificates.  It will be interesting to see what they reveal.
