Boar War QSA and KSA Medal Rolls

Hi all, I collect medals from men who served in the 1st, 2nd, Regulars, 6th territorials and 11th K1 Battalions Manchester Regiment and the Grenadier Guards. Some groups have older men who fought in South Africa and I have some Manchester QSA's and KSA's as a result. Due to this I have an interest in this conflict. For research purposes I need the medal rolls of Manchesters and GG's in the Boar War. Where can I get them? I am willing to pay for them of course but I need them unit complete. Thanks Tony

You can get them from the national archives, by copying each page.
The 1st & 2nd Bn's of the manchesters alone with both QSA and KSA will fill 4  lever arch files.

Double that for the GG's and you have 8 lever arch files.

thats a lot of paper and a lot of copying.

Very, very expensive.

If you cant do it, then you have to pay on top of that a researchers fees to do it.

No much change out of �300 - �400 I should think.

Sphinx, Yes I know all that but the experts here have been collecting in this field for decades and there must be a handful that have the 1st and 2nd Manchester rolls complete + the VBs. I will gladly pay �300 for those 4 lever arch files. Any takers? T

Tony, I am one of the 'experts' here, or so I am told, and I do have all the Rolls.
The work involved in removing them all, copying onto A3 and replacing them is far to large a task to contemplate.  Still, someone might take you up on your offer for �300.

Sphinx, I know you are an expert as I have read your posts. I know it's not just the work in copying it's also the great amount of work that has been done in the past building such a resource. Am I being unrealistic requesting this? I am not asking for the rolls for nothing. Thanks for your answers anyway. T

I also have copies of all the medal rolls. The QSA & KSA would be very easy to do as I did it by jpeg not by paper. As for the WW1 medal rolls the 1915 Star would be ok. But the problem comes with the BWM &VM as they are not in unit order so would be very hard to find with 100s of medal index cards So I will not be doing this as its to large a job.

If you would like a copies of the QSA, KSA & the 1915 Star  let us know.
