Edward Cunliffe was my grandfather. I believe he died of his wounds, but after 1918. I have seen a newspaper report of his death/funeral notice but it is not in my possession.
Any information on his life and actions would be welcome.

"Timberman" thinks he may be:
Manchester Regiment 48847 Private

Certainly Mancunian, possbliy Gorton area.
I believe that the newspaper report I read said he was mentioned in dispatches.
He probaly died c1920.

Hi WmR

Don't get me wrong I was only assuming that he was in the Manchester's and on that assumption posted my reply on what I had found. Unless you know that he was in the Manchester's it may not be your Grandfather as there are several other Edward Cunliffe listed on the MIC site.
Sorry if my reply was a bit misleading.

No intention to misrepresent Timberman's earlier post. (Very new to all this and not sure of the etiquette.)

I'm sorry if I misrepresented his very valued information. I think his intuition is right - it fits with what little I know, anyway (see my post this afternoon).
