Will

Hi,
I am researching my great Uncle L/cpl Richard Coupe (2525) who died at the Battle of the Somme between 14 - 16 July 1916.  Apparently his service records were destroyed during the bombing of London in WW II.  When I started all I knew was that the CWGC listed him as belonging to the 1st/4th Bn of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment which was not engaged at the time of his death at the Somme.  The city of Preston however had a "Roll of Honor" card with a hand written note that said L/cpl Richard Coupe was with the 19th Manchester Regiment at the Somme when he was killed.

Is there a list of 19th Manchester soldiers at the Somme that can be checked to verify this note?  Would the Manchester Regiment or Museum have any records that would help?

Thanks,

Will Coupe (USA)
