Hi all

Does anyone have access to the records of the movements and actions of the 1st Battalion of The Manchesters between deployment in South Africa to June 1900?

Thanks

Jonathan.

The battalion arrived Durban on 20 September 1899 and commenced their long march to Ladysmith on 9 October.  Because of the worsening political situation they completed their journey by train, arriving 11 October.  Battle of Elandslaagte on 21 October. Then remained in and around Ladysmith throughout the siege ending 28 February 1900.

To Arcadia 16 March. to Vaalkranz 6 April.  16 May to Modderspruit and then generally in the greater Ladysmith area until July.
