Hello and here's a photo

Thanks for letting me join.

My grandfather was in the 2nd batallion of the Manchester Regiment. He signed up for WW1 (lied about his age to get in) but remained in the army for some time.

Thought you might be interested to see this photo of them in India, I think 1923-25. My grandfather, Norman Wolstenholme Stansfield, is the third from left on the front row as you look at the photo.

 Hello BMHill

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting the photo.
I found a Norman Stansfield MIC for WW1, served in the 1/7th Manchester's
 No 276227 and later 88939.
At some stage he must of transferred into the 2nd Bn after the war if this is him.

There is a very good book called Regiment Life in the British Army in India 1921-1922.
It give you an insight to what your grandfather would of experienced.

Thanks, yes I think that probably is him, although he did have a middle name which isn't referred to. I hadn't particularly spotted the change of regiment. The photo is clearly labelled as 2nd Batallion, although I see I've cut that off the photo! Thanks for the book recommendation, I'll check it out.
