Pte Peter Martleton 14/24160 Manchester Regt. (Wigan Pals Coy), enlisted on 07/04/1915, discharged on 19/09/1915, aortic valvular disease of heart, not likely to become an efficient soldier etc... Re-enlisted 24/09/1915 as Royal Engineers 123225, transferred to Labour Corps 292811. Served in France from 01/10/1915 to 08/11/1917. Discharged 07/03/1918, sprained back due to service, originating January 1916, SWB badge awarded. Died on 19/03/1920, cause not known. A collier or platelayer, his widow was Alice Martleton, of 13 Tram Street, Platt Bridge, Wigan. Buried at Ince Cemetery, plot CE.C.2388.
