Hello
I have been reasearching my family history for quite a while now, but have only just found that the husband of the sistster my Great Great Grandfather was a solider in the Manchesters.
I believe that he and his brother who was also married to another sister of my GGGF were in the 11th Battalion.
He fought and unfortunely died at Gallipoli, whilst his brother survived.
So this will be the focus of my research.
Looking forward to examining the records held here.

Welcome to the Forum GH.
I suggest you open a thread for each of the men (1914-18 Section) and let us know what records you have.  Members then may be able to add to bits and bobs.
Cheers

Hello
I’ve just joined for two reasons mainly.
Firstly I have a great uncle who served and died in the 12th Battalion and I’m trying to build up a picture of his service.
Secondly, I have a battered copy of the 1916 book “Manchester City Battalions Roll of Honour”. This has the names of soldiers in the 16th -23rd Service Battalions in the 90th Infantry Brigade .
Each platoon has a group photo as well as the names. There are also lists by employer of who has joined up.
I’m happy to look for anyone if forum members want to get in touch. No charge but please be patient!
