Pte 23382 John Owen Roberts (043407 RAOC)

John Owen Roberts, enlisted 28/01/1915 as Pte 23382 Manchester Regiment (later 295057), disembarked France 24/12/1915. Transfer to 043407 AOC 21/09/1918, Class Z Reserve on demobilisation 12/06/1919. Disability statement notes shell shock July 1916, gassed 09/09/1917, inflamed stomach April 1918 due to active service conditions. Medical Officer notes "aortic and mitral valvular disease" attributable to service during the present war, "due I think to endocarditis following pulmonary complications of gassing". Died on 26/08/1919, age 33, cause not stated.

Married to Lillie Marshall at St Peter's Church, Birkdale, on 21/09/1907. Occupation was bill poster, but burial record states tram conductor. Lived at 3 Chatham Road, Southport.

Unfortunately this looks like a non-starter, cause of death was bronchitis which I don't see mentioned in his papers at all.
