Hi,
I'm Heather and searching for details about my Grandfather as my Father is going over to France in July.
My Grandfather was called George Dean he was a private in the Manchester Regiment in the labour corps his service number was 53538 he joined 24/05/1916 we know he was in France and we think he was gassed and lost an eye. He ended up in the Liverpool Regiment  service number 78525. My dad was hoping to find out exactly where he served and which hospital he may have been in. He has photos of him with nurses. Can anyone tell me how I may be able to find out this information. My father is 85 this year and it would mean a lot to him to be able to visit where his father served. Thanks in advance for your help.

Morning Heather,
The Labour Corps No '53538' was part of the group of numbers allocated to men transferred from 25th Infantry Labour Coy, King's (Liverpool) Regiment (KLR) in February 1917. See https://armyservicenumbers.blogspot.com/2012/01/formation-of-labour-corps-in-1917.html
There's no exact science to number sequences in the KLR but '78525' does correspond with other men who served in the Labour Coys. The Medal Roll shows the transfer from the KLR to the Labour Corps.
I can't find any reference to service in the Manchesters.  What do you have to indicate this? Parents names, age and address may also help.
