Pte Patchett (B Q4 1880) enlisted on 30/11/1914 and was a L/Cpl in XI Pln of C Coy when training in April 1915. He was employed as a Moulders Labourer. He served overseas in BEF with 23rd Bttn after 1915.
Francis was discharged with SWB & Pension on 21/8/1917. He had 50% incapacity from VDH "due to" service.
Francis died in Ancoats Hospital Convalescent Home, Great Warford, from Mitral VDH &on 31/8/1921 – the final day to qualify for CWGC commemoration. He died from VDH attributed to service. A Francis Patchett's death was Reg in Macclesfield in Q3 1921 8a/159, aged 40 – Born 1881.
Widow Mary Jane (M Q3 1920), 95 Osborne St, Oldham Rd. Pension Award. Second Pension award as to 2 sons under 16, Joseph B 1906 & James B 1910. Their mother had been Winifred. Medals returned. Son of John William & Augustina – both deceased. In 1911 Francis had been a Car Cleaner on Manchester Tramway.
Based on the seating, I suspect Francis is the sole L/Cpl sat next to the sole Cpl in the XI Pln photo. The stripe is possibly evident.
