John Buckley had been a cotton operative when he enlisted in 24th Bn on 29/03/1915.  He trained with XVII Pln of E Coy until he was posted to 27th Bn on 12/08/1915.  John was then transferred to 1st GB in India on 24/02/1916.  He was transferred to 1st GB Lincs ‘22371’ on 21/07/1918 before embarking for home at Bombay on 01/11/1919.  John was transferred to Reserve on 23/12/1919 and made no pension claim for disability.
John Buckley died, aged 31 and was buried at St Matthew’s Chadderton on 01/01/1921.  The husband of Mary Jane Buckley of 66 Bamford St, Chadderton.
