Alfred Heaton evidently served at home with 8th Bn until he was transferred to Class W Reserve. He died on 15/10/1918, aged 33 – a tree on Ancestry suggests consumption. Burial at St Catherine's, Barton.  The husband of Louisa Heaton of 16 Helen St, Peel Green.
Apart from a possible dependent's pension award there is no evidence the cause of death was related to embodied service.
Following one Platoon and everything around them....
