Pte 38725 Joseph Wild – 3rd Bn
Joseph Wild had been a general fitter when he attested under the Derby Scheme on 11/12/1915.  He was mobilised for duty with 3rd Bn on 22/08/1916. Transferred to MGC '64684' on 14/10/1916, Joseph served in Salonika (from 09/01/1917) and Egypt with 77 Coy & 5th Bn MGC.  Joseph was treated for Malaria on 2 occasions.  He returned home on to Furlough on 22/08/1919 until he was transferred to Reserve Z on 18/10/1919.
Joseph was buried at Failsworth Cemetery on 20/11/1920. The son of Hannah Wild of 97 Ashley Rd W, Failsworth.
With no evident pension there is no known connection of his death and service. It would be interesting to see if Malaria was cause of death.
Following one Platoon and everything around them....
