L/Cpl 1970 Frank Mooney disembarked with 2nd S Lancs on 23/11/1914 and became Acting Col Sgt.  He was transferred to 3/8th Bn on 01/03/1916 '5608' and went on to serve with 1/8th Bn '301996' where he was a Sgt Frank was discharged with a gunshot wound to his right finger on 05/12/1918 or 19/02/1919. He lived at 129 Napier Street, St Helens. Born 1888.
We can't be certain we have the right man but a Frank / Francis Mooney born 07/03/1887 lived at 6 Aspinall Place, St Helens in 1939.  In 1911 he had been a coal miner resident with his wife Annie (Nee Kelly) at 30 Mount Street, St Helens. The son of Francis and Margaret Mooney.  The couple's daughter, Margaret, was born 21/03/1913 and lived with her father in 1939.  She had married Robert Foy in Q1 1935 and had a son, Robert Foy, born 19/09/1935.  Robert died in Rochdale in Feb 1995.  He had a wife and son.  I'll try to find out more.
Frank received 3 medals.  Please can you describe what your neighbour has?

Hi Tim, Thanks for kindly talking time to reply and helpful research.
Pretty sure we're on the right Frank Mooney regarding his tie to medals and track. As My research and kind others from FB Groups,
Your mention of Rochdale Foy's,  may hold clues or even solve my neighbour Derek's missing link and tie. As he's Born Chadderton and has strong family connections in Rochdale. (Been little busy last few days with work commitments and Football) looking forward to seeing Derek and asking questions related, regarding, in next day or two, also taking photos and closer look at medals again, to answer your question.
My notes from one medal side inscription = 1970 A.C SJT. F MOONEY. SOUTH LANCS REG 1914-1919.
Derek's thinking possible surnames "Graham or Maude" may have connections to one of Franks & Annie Kelly's 3 MOONEY Children, Margaret Foy (neeMooney) b1913, Frank Mooney b1915, Annie Mooney b1920. My be missing Link he's looking for ????
Also found a great Photo and interesting bios of Frank and his 5 MOONEY, St Helen's WW1 Soldier Casualties Brothers. on St Helen's roll of honour website. http://www.sthelensrollsofhonour.co.uk/casualty-748-James_Mooney.html

Will speak with Derek and get mor info regarding medals and get back over next few days.
Kind regards Sam
