From forces war records we have
Archive Reference:MH106/1129 MH106/1129 can be found at The National Archives in Kew, and contains First World War Representative Medical Records of No. 18 General Hospital: 26/04/1917 to 01/05/1917. British and Colonial Other Ranks. No. 18 General Hospital at CAMIERS, FRANCE Ser: 30450-31138.
Would there be anything else that you could tell us that would fill in the picture ie details of the battle and where at Arras. The family story is that he was brought back and had his leg amputated at ST. Thomas's in London and convalesced on the west coast somewhere, would that be true?
