Captain Robert Bonner MBE

I have been informed by RHQ that Captain Robert Bonner MBE passed away on the 30th August 2022 Captain Bonner was my platoon commander and friend for many years.Captain Bonner was an author of the book Jungle Bashers and other books on the Manchester Regiment,he was was also a moderator on this forum.

 Thank you for letting us know.
 He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

That is sad news indeed.
I met Robert (Bob) on several occasions even being invited to tea at his house a couple of time, having been introduced to him by Maj/Capt Bob Owen back in the 1980s.
We corresponded on many occasions over the years and he was always most willing to devote time and attention to whatever research question I might have.
He was a real gentleman.
His MBE was thoroughly deserved for keeping the history of The Manchester Regiment alive.
He will be sorely missed.
