Identify bridegroom?
« on: May 24, 2022, 02:44:34 PM »
Post from Debbie Stennett in Facebook Group, "We Grew Up in Manchester":
"A long shot here. This photo was bought at an Auction in Bridport last year. The Bridegroom is wearing a Manchester Regiment badge on his cap. The house names ("Ambleside" and "Talgarth") are clearly visible on the two front doors behind the very grand wedding party. I wondered if anyone recognises either the location or any of the people in the photo and would like to lay claim to the original photo."

Initial research suggests it might be Sydney Moss of Ellesmere Park, Salford - any other thoughts?

 Hi macgormain
I'm sorry no-one has been able to help with the photo.
We are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, someone might still
be able to help in the future.

Just an aside, I wonder if the photo could have been taken outside a pub or 2 Hotel Bar entrances?
Would a wedding party pose outside of houses?
The reason behind my thinking is if they are houses they are a bit "posh" would such houses open up straight onto a pavement?
Also they look to be expensive doors, would the house? owners have paid for such doors to have different names on them?

I think you have a good point Cliff. They may be at a venue with connections to Ambleside & Talgarth.
I can’t find a railway company connection or link between hotels though. What else could it be?
