Pte 3822 / 276274 James Gibson Fairbrother – 1/7th Bn

Tim Bell

James Gibson enlisted and embodied in 2/7th Bn on 12/05/1915.  He joined the MEF with 1/7th Bn at Gallipoli on 30/09/1915. Suffering Trench Feet, James returned home on 03/01/1916 when he was treated for trench foot and rheumatism.
Transferred to Class P(T) Reserve on 31/03/1917. He received a pension for frost bite to feet and rheumatism.
James died from pulmonary TB and exhaustion on 17/02/1918, aged 25.  He is buried in Sale Brooklands Cemetery. With no reference or test for TB prior to discharge we have no evidence the condition related to service.
The son of Emma Fairbrother of 21 Westminster Avenue, Whalley Range.
