Pte 2672 Joseph Briggs – 2nd Bn

Joseph Briggs was a veteran of the RGA when he reenlisted in 4th Bn on 18/08/1914.  He joined the BEF on 09/11/1914 and remained with 2nd Bn until he was treated in hospital for VDH and evacuated home on 29/05/1915.  He was treated in the 2nd Western Gen Hosp & Garrison Hosp at Ashton and discharged unfit on 05/02/1916.  The VDH was a result of service - the strian on service in the trenches at Cassel.
Joseph died of disease on 13/02/1916, aged 45. Brother of Edward Briggs of 15 Orchard St, Stockport. Unmarried husband of Mary Hill / Gudgeon of 24 York St, Ashton.
