Robert Hastie had been a cotton spinner when he  enlisted and embodied in 9th Bn at Aston U Lyne on 09/01/1915.
Robert was discharged unfit on 17/09/1915. The medical report described a feeble man with ankylosed chest with chronic cough...quite incapable of any sustained effort. 'Since getting his uniform he has done very little parade work.'  Not commencing, attributable and no comment on aggravation. A later report in 1917 identified 'no definite symptoms of bronchitis'. A review in 1917 determined that the ankylosed chest was aggravated by service.
Robert Hastie died from acute Bronchitis Pneumonia on 02/01/1918.
The husband of Margaret Hastie of 5 Howes Court, Dukinfield. Two children.
Ankylosed chest seems to be closely related to bronchitis but the absence of earlier bronchitis diagnosis suggests commemoration would not be accepted unless the DC mentions ankylosed chest.

Unknown cause of death*
