Pte 203628 James Lowe – 2/10th Bn

James Lowe had been ships steward in the Mercantile Marine when he attested for General Service under the Derby Scheme on 11/12/1915.  He was mobilised for duty with 5th Bn on 22/05/1917.  James was posted to 2/8th Bn on and disembarked in France on 13/10/1917 where he was posted to 2/10th Bn on 17/10/1917.  He was admitted to 3rd Canadian CCS on 25/11/1917 and 2 Gen Hosp the next day due to Trench Feet.  James was evacuated home on 02/12/1917.
James was discharged unfit on 29/03/1918.  He received a pension for Trench Feet, originating at Ypres in November 1917.
James died from Lobar Pneumonia on 28/06/1918, aged 21.  The son of Elizabeth Mary Lowe of 104 Salisbury Road, Everton, L/Pool.

James died serving as assistant steward on board 'Melita' en route from L/Pool to New York. Overseas Register confims Pneumonia.  It says aged 22.
