Pte 3405 Charles Melia – 3/10th Bn

Charles Melia has been a piecer in a cotton mill when he enlisted on 22/04/1915. He solely served at home.
Charles was discharged unfit at Margate on 20/05/1916.  He was posted as 3/10th Bn, attached to 45th Provisional Bn.  The Medical Board found VDH and Mitral Dilation that was not a result of & not aggravated by service. Following appeal it was determined that the condition was aggravated by service. Charles had 100% disability in February 1918.
Charles died from unspecified disease on 28/12/1918, aged 20. The son of Julia & Charles Melia of 11 Caley Street, Oldham.
Need proof Charles died from VDH.

Buried at Greenacres Cemetery, B2/53. Looks like a public grave so unlikely to have a headstone.
