James Willoughby was a tram car conductor when he attested on 08/12/1915.  Initially rejected for service on 15/06/1915, James was posted to Class B reserve. He was re-mobilised with 5th Bn on 13/06/1917.
Posted to 8th Bn at Scarborough and admitted to hospital in Filey, James was discharged unfit from 8th (Reserve) Bn at Preston on 23/02/1918, aged 31y 4m. He had chronic bronchitis that had started in childhood.  The pension record indicated the condition was aggravated by service.
James died from pneumonia and cardiac failure on 16/02/1919.  This would not appear to be directly related to service.
Husband of Alice Willoughby of 2 Heaton Place, Buxton. One son.
