XIV Platoon, D Company, 19th Battalion.

Hi, I have been writing an account of XIV Platoon D Company of the Manchester Regiment in the Great War (50,000) words so far. I have been able to contact a few surviving relatives but would be especially interested in contacting Tony Holkham (a relative of 12285 Private Ernest Briggs) and Elaine Speakman (the granddaughter of 12489 Private John Wright). I started writing the account for my Friend who is the great niece of 12461 Private Kelita Snowden. Of the Platoon photograph I can identify just under half of the men and have detailed biographies of all but one or two of them. f anyone would like to discuss my research or has any information about the men of the Platoon I would very much like to hear from you. Regards Mark Taggart.

Hi Mack, thanks for that. I am really interested in John Wright. He is really difficult to track down so his diary lacks a bit of context I know that it was provided by Elaine Speakman but although I have tried I cannot find any way to contact her. Have you any ideas?

Hi Mack, I am very sorry to here that. Well I wanted to know a bit more about John Wright himself, about his background and who he was. Because of the commonness of the name he is really hard to track down by way of census records etc. Also has anyone idea what happened to the original diary and did he keep other stuff etc. Regards Mark

Hi Mark,
There are some records on Ancestry & Fold3 that you probably have. Here are links to family trees that may help. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/158778011/person/272228154750/facts https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/16761209/person/29116756273/facts.  It's hard to know what to tell you when I suspect you probably have it already. Maybe a summary of what you know would help and we can endeavour to fill some gaps.  I'm intrigued by the reference to a diary. Is this on the net?
Cheers
Tim
