Hello all

My name is Andy Partington and thanks to tim for the invite to this group and all the recent help he has given. I have an interest in the manchester regiment in general with it being my one of my 2 local battalions in the past and an interest in the pals battalions especially the 19th manchesters
I work on the railway at manchester  and was a member of getting the missing london road memorial replaced at manchester piccadilly station on platform 10.

currently in the process of researching a fallen manchester pal from the 19th who is currently remembered at Thiepval and fingers crossed can be proved to be buried in one of the somme cemeteries

looking forward to being involved and learning from you all

Andy

Thanks for the welcome all

Mack   i wish it was frank dickenson myerscough   one of the sad stories of the london road memorial   as Frank is not on the london northwestern  railway role of honour he may have had to resign to join up therefore no longer classed as a railwayman. his colleagues funded the memorial at london road and added both himself  and mark potts to the list of names.  i was able to meet a relative not long after the memorial was unveiled which was nice and i was able to explain about the attack that he went missing in.  whenever we make it to thiepval he is always a name i look out for.  does his record still show the 9th manchesters which is obviously a typo as his medal record from the battalion clearly shows he was in the 19th   i presume as a replacement leading up to the somme campaign starting

Tim   the help you have given so far is invaluable and i will look at the links. i have started to collate the information, in regards to service records and some of the information on them is the national archives the best way again so that you can easily save copies.

cheers

Andy
