This is in the Midland belt of Tasmania. There's a central highway that runs from Hobart in the south and Launceston in the north. Throughout the route there are towns, such as Campbell Town, that have old barracks or links to British units. The old port – Port Arthur – was a prison site for those who were transported. This is in the southeast of Tasmania. There is also a place called Eagle Bay. They used rottweilers – chained up to prevent prisoners from escaping. All of these posts were manned by men from a Roulement battalion or regiment. Therefore, if the 63rd Foot was at one location, there's a good chance that men from that regiment were scattered throughout Tasmania. There are links to men who served with the Foot Regiments. It's a great place to visit.
