Can't work out the badge, but being born in 1936, then this picture would most likely be taken between 1954 and 1956.

Have you any more info on him?

Dave.

Thanks for the welcome and I'm afraid I have little information on my father.
The picture is the original so afraid quality not that good.
But i think Daves correct about the year.
The only information I have at the moment is his address at the time,DOB & mother/fathers names.
the badge on the pic seems to be a crown on a ball with possibly a coloured moon shape lying on its back.
Do you know of a site where I could search for badges to try and identify it?

Hi Steve
From the description you've given is it this. It's the Queens Lancashire Regiment.
If not just google British cap badges.

Looking at the pic, I will go for the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) ;D The QLR did not form until the 1970s?

Thankyou but not sure these are the badge.
After closer inspection it seems to be a crown on a cicular badge with something inside the circle. there's no scroll at the bottom.
I am going to try and get this enlarged so hopefully may get a clearer view of the badge.

Steve.

1970 - but the badge depicted didn't exist until far more recently (2002?).

My first thought on the badge in question was ACC, but I think the shoulder titles are wrong for this.

ok after magnifing the badge it seems to be the same shape as the 7th Queen's Own Hussars badge in Wendi's link,
But the centre is different with possibly a lions head which pertrudes, to me it looks like a gargoyle type thing. ???

Sorry but did'nt realise there are so many badges. :o
