My name is Keith Ferguson, the oldest son of Joseph Ferguson 3525961 1st Battalion Manchester Regiment. He enlisted on 16th January 1933, he was born in 1914 in Manchester. I have his Regular Army Certificate of Service book, which indicates he served in the West Indies, Egypt, Palestine, Singapore, Japanese POW (for the duration of the war), M.W. Europe (Wuppertal where I was born BOAR birth certificate). N.W. Europe (Berlin). He was discharged on the 26th August 1951 having gained the rank of WOII for being granted a Short Service Commission. From there my research goes cold. I know that the Manchester Regiment amalgamated with the Kings and about that time the British Army re-numbered service numbers to 2 and nine numbers.
I know he was attached to the Gurkhas and was stationed in Darjeeling (India) and know that he was a Quarter Master. From there he was posted to Ipoh (Malaya) with the Gurkhas. Which Gurkha Regiment is a mystery.
From there he was attached to the 26 KAR in Nairobi (Kenya) during the Mau Mau uprising, his next posting was with the 26 KAR in Dar es Salam (Tanganika) and then to Mauritius when the British Government closed the base and being the QM he was responsible for returning or disposing all equipment.
On his return to UK the War Office terminated his Sort Service Commission on 15th January 1961.
Looking for any help and photos of the above.
