As a non-collector of Militaria I surprised myself by buying Charles Parker's medals today.
He enlisted in 2nd City Bn on 03/09/1914, trained I Pln and went to France with the Bn as Pte on 08/11/1915.  Later posted to 18th Bn & Commssioned 2/Lt in the Manchesters on 25/06/1918.

Received Trio at 329 Princess Rd, Fallowfield in 1922. Kellys Directory of 1929 shows the same address, employed as a clerk.

Can anyone identify which Bn he served with as an officer?  I saw a connection to 2nd Bn somewhere.

Also any family links.  I can't work out which C Parker he is.

Cheers

Tim

Hart's Army List shows 2/Lt C. Parker as 1st or 2nd Bn in Sept 1918.  I can't see any reference to him in the 2nd Bn War Diary.  Has anyone found the 1st Bn War Diary for this period?

After a process of elimination where service is known for a Charles Parker from Manchester I have 2 candidates - which may or may not be right.

1.
Charles Parker B 30/01/1888 Reg Chorlton Service No known
F Charles (Police Constable B London) M Mary Eldest Son. B James, John Baden, Edward   S Ellen, Isabella, Mary, Annie, Agnes, Ada Francis W Margaret B 30/03/1887 d Q1 1953? Need maiden name.
1891 26 Princes St, Ardwick. 1901 174 Napier? St, Gorton. 1911 Insurance Clerk, 18 Sarah St, Dranford 1939 Springfield Road, Droylesden Assurance Official Chief Clerk
Possibly Councillor appointed JP on Ashton Bench resident Chesterton Grove. MEN 12/09/1951. Stood as Cllr for Openshaw in 1946.
Death Reg? Manchester Q4 1961 aged 73  at Withington Hosp of 49 Spring Bridge Road, Whalley Range. Effects to Joan Parker, spinster.
CWS Roll has C Parker as employee. May be CIS?
Unamed MBE sold at same auction Lot 73.  Trio was 73A.  I asked if it was the same seller but they didn't respond. What a shame if the Civil Gong has been seperated from the Service Medals.

2.
Charles Parker B 1890 Service not known
F John William M Ellen
1901 1903 & 1911 4 Heyrod Street Ancoats

1921 Census will be helpful and the Service File at Kew https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C722241 Interesting to see this is 1914-1921

The 1921 Census is pay per view - disgraceful.  I guessed at the 1st Chap - married to Margaret and found them living at 6 Botham St, Moss Side on 19/06/1921, employed at Phoenix Insurance.  This is not the 329 Princess Road, Fallowfield address from the MIC in 1922.  Still may be the right man....
Does anyone have access to the AVL for Moss Side?  I recollect checking it before but forget where it is.
