Gilbert Medlicott died at 49 Claude Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, on the 23rd December 1940 - a victim of enemy action during the Manchester Xmas Blitz.   He was a member of the Home Guard.

Is it possible, please, to ascertain in which Home Guard battalion (and Coy.) of the Manchester Regiment he would be serving at the time of his death?       I would think the area for his recruitment would have been in the Chorlton / Didsbury localities.            PhilipG.l

The CWGC indicate that he was the husband of G. Medlicott, but I have not been able to discover what happened to this lady.    PhilipG.

I believe his wife was called Minnie[nee Minnie,e brown]who he married in his hometown of Birkenhead in 1927,it was quite normal in those days to refer to a widow using the Christian name of the husband.
