Pte 19656 James Wotherspoon
Pte Wotherspoon’s service enlistemed in 21st Bttn on 5/1/1915 and trained with XI Pln. 12 years service with 9th Lancers, including Boer War.  Prior to hostilities he worked for William Graham & Co. He was discharged on 7/1/1916.
James died in Manchester Royal Infirmary on 18 May 1917, aged 47.  He had Aortic Incompetence aggravated by Active Service.  James was buried in Southern Cemetery on I/CofE.609. Reg 82 1917 Chorlton 8c/936.
Widow Mary Ann and four children received a pension award 88 Norton Street, West Gorton.
DC confirms cause of death.  Picture Theatre Attendant. IFCP seeking commemoration.

We need to determine the presence and condition of James Wotherspoon's headstone in Southern Cemetery.
